Well, as every year, I want to wish all the people who often visit this blog (and those who visit it by error
) a very good 2009 year.
2008 was a great year for me after all, I had the chance to work with amazing people of an amazing company, although there were bad and angry moments but the good ones were much better, I could say that for every bad moment there were like 10 good ones. To know people that really care of the business and of people make you feel you are in this world cause of something.
As I said previously, I had not only the chance to work with great people I never met before but also the chance to work with people who I talked with before via IM, IRC, etc and never met in person before. During some of those bad moments (I’m sorry to make reference to them again and again but it’s useful) I used to get better when I figured and remembered that there are still good people in this world, people that care of their lives, family, friends and that they are loyal and never will disappoint you.
I think that working for this company not only helped me to grew professionally, it also helped me to grew as a person (and son), saw some things that my father told me since I was a kid and I never believed them, now I believe in some of them, in other things I figured better, that my father was wrong, to tell him how the things were outside. Perhaps living outside not helped me get more conversations with my father but to create some kind of “knowledge relationship” that was absent for so many years. Today we can talk very calm and agree in many aspects, thing that was pretty impossible almost 1.5 years ago.
This year also helped me to love more my country (Mexico), perhaps we have lot of bad things but we have lot of really good things that have many countries outside don’t have, we are a country full of courage people willing to work and give all the “life” to work. Other latin american countries use to only work “8 hours”, the job/company can be crashing or going to hell and they leave their tasks, they don’t care a $@#$@$ of their jobs (not to say their “professional image”). We are people who do the things until they are done, simple as that, and we do the things in the right and honest way. I remember the last days/weeks, I asked friends what image they had of us and if that image really matched with the job we did, the surprising thing was that they though different of what we are but this perspective changed after they knew how hard (and great) we work and how loyal persons we are.
The economic side was good for most part of the year, you already know that I’m back here cause of that “stupid economical crisis”. I’m not sure where I’m going to work, I’d like to continue doing the things I did previously and with a great company (better if it’s an international company who also cares of OpenSource initiatives). Definitely I don’t want to work in a company that don’t have a damn idea or interest in using the knowledge I got in the last year, doing that will be a waste of a year, and time for both parts imho.
In a very few minutes (CST) we are going to be at the 2009 year, it will be a very difficult year, if it was difficult at USA I don’t want to know how hard is it going to be here in Mexico, all countries are in big economic issues (including China). Perhaps this year we should work together and earn as much as possible (really, you don’t have an idea of how bad things are outside, I figured it when I came back to Mexico, what happens in the news is only 40-50% of the real problem).
So please, work hard, together, earn, and if you do that I’m sure you will have a very good 2009 after all
, see ya!
